About

Please consider giving to one of the below funds to support the school in our mission to create and share knowledge so that people will use information — with technology — to build a better world.

Student Emergency Fund

The UMSI Student Emergency Fund is a vital resource that provides emergency financial support to students facing unforeseen expenses. Established in 2020 during the challenging times of the COVID pandemic, this fund became a crucial lifeline for students impacted financially by the global crisis. Today, we are re-emphasizing and prioritizing this fund due to the ongoing need among our student body. Your contribution to the UMSI Student Emergency Fund ensures that students can have the safety net they need to focus on their education and work.

UMSI Go Blue Graduate Scholarship

This fund provides four semesters of tuition and fees in UMSI’s Master of Science in Information program or Master of Health Informatics program to selected students who received or qualified for U-M’s Go Blue Guarantee as undergraduates. This scholarship builds on the success of the UMSI Graduate Guarantee, a two-year pilot program that was the first of its kind at U-M. Through this fund, we continue our commitment to making graduate school affordable for Michigan residents.

Annual Fund

This flexible fund supports the dean’s highest priorities. When you give to the annual fund, you empower us to say “yes” to programs like Citizen Interaction Design, to study abroad and other engaged learning opportunities, and to hosting thought leaders and faculty candidates who are experts in their fields.

Culture and Community Fund

Gifts to the Culture and Community fund equip UMSI’s Organizational Culture and Community Office with the funding they need to advance their goal of building community, expanding access and lowering barriers to a UMSI education so that every student can thrive. Students can also apply to use these funds for student-led activities. This support helps create a welcoming environment for UMSI students, faculty and staff.

Graduate Scholarship Fund

Without scholarship support, an education at UMSI is not possible for some of the students who possess the potential to become leaders in the field of information. Your support ensures our programs are available to individuals from various economic backgrounds and helps fulfill our commitment to accessibility.

Undergraduate Scholarship Fund

By alleviating some of the financial pressure on undergraduate students, you empower them to make choices based on their values, skills, and goals, instead of their debt. Often, scholarship support is what enables a student to receive an education at U-M and allows them to pursue opportunities outside of the classroom that may have otherwise been out of reach.
