UM-Flint’s community partnerships extend learning beyond the classroom and into the heart of Flint and Genesee County. Your support helps provide essential care through the HEART pro bono clinic, nurture young learners at the nationally accredited Early Childhood Development Center, create joyful inclusive experiences for K–12 students with special needs, and strengthen our region’s cultural life through the Flint Music Program. Together, these partnerships connect learning with real community impact.
HEART
HEART—Health Equity, Action, Research, and Teaching—is a student- and faculty-run pro bono health clinic rooted in UM-Flint’s College of Health Sciences. Serving uninsured and underinsured individuals in Flint and Genesee County, HEART addresses health inequities through compassionate care, advocacy, and education. Students work in interprofessional teams to deliver free services while gaining hands-on experience that makes a real impact in our community.
UM-Flint Early Childhood Development Center Gifts
Enhance community-based learning and activities for children from birth through age 8 in Genesee County. One of only two nationally accredited Early Childhood programs in Genesee County, the ECDC collaborates with UM-Flint’s Education, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy programs to provide innovative educational experiences. Past donations have supported upgraded outdoor play equipment, community-based learning opportunities, Reggio Emilia-inspired programming, and more.
K-12 Partnerships Inclusive Events
Foster belonging and joyful shared experiences for children with special needs and their families. The K–12 Partnerships Inclusive Events Gift Fund creates welcoming, accessible events that promote social skill development and reduce isolation. From Inclusive Halloween to Officer Friendly Day, these experiences offer sensory supports, inclusive activities, and safe community connections. Your Giving Blueday gift helps ensure every family feels seen, supported, and included.
Flint Music Department Gifts
UM-Flint music majors shape their futures through creativity, dedication, community engagement, and performance. Your support sustains our performance and music education programs. It also supports summer and day camps serving youth musicians in grades five through twelve, community and high school outreach events, and a wide range of public concerts. Together, these efforts strengthen both our campus and the Flint community through meaningful educational and cultural experiences.
By giving today, you advance programs that change lives, deepen UM-Flint’s community impact, and help build a more inclusive and vibrant future for everyone we serve.
