The Michigan Marching Band is working to raise $37,500 to purchase new winter coats for the ensemble. The coats our students wear today were purchased in the early 2000s and are now well beyond their lifespan. After more than two decades of travel and late season performances, they are simply worn out. New coats will help ensure that every member of the band stays warm and comfortable during cold weather game days, and performances.
The cost of these new winter coats will be about $75,000. So why are we seeking to raise half that amount? Our fundraising goal has been cut in half, thanks to a generous donor who has offered a one-to-one match for all gifts made to the Marching Band on Giving Blueday, up to $37,500. This means every dollar donated will be matched, dollar for dollar, until we reach our goal, doubling the impact of each gift and helping us provide new coats for every member of the Michigan Marching Band.
The Michigan Marching Band is one of the most recognized traditions at the University of Michigan, bringing music, energy, and Michigan pride to the entire Wolverine community.
By supporting this effort, you are making a direct impact on our students today and helping keep Band #129 warm and ready to perform. Your gift will help ensure that Michigan Marching Band members for years to come can stay warm on those cold fall Saturdays while continuing the traditions that make the band special.
