Day-long and Hourly Matches & Challenges

Pre-Giving Blueday Video Sharing Challenge

Now - March 18, 2026

One winner will be randomly selected from all those who make a Giving Blueday promo video, share it on social media before March 19, and send a link to the video with GivingBluedayVideo@umich.edu. The winner gets $1,000 toward the fund of their choice.

Day-long Challenges/Matches

First-Time Donor Match

First-time U-M donors who give $50 or more will receive a match of $50. Excludes current U-M students. First come first served. A maximum of $60,000 will be counted toward this challenge.

Student Donor Match

Current U-M students who give $25 or more will receive a match of $25. Excludes alumni. First come first served. A maximum of $25,000 will be counted toward this challenge.

Student Org - Raise the Bar Challenge

The top five student organizations that increase their number of unique donors by the largest percentage over 2025’s Giving Blueday donor total will receive:

• 1st - $2,500
• 2nd - $1,500
• 3rd - $1,000
• 4th - $500
• 5th - $500

Gifts must be made through GivingBlueday.org to count towards this challenge. Winners will be selected based on the results of the Student Organization leaderboard but are not official until gifts are processed and confirmed.

Sharing is Caring Challenge

Use the #IGaveBlue and share what cause you supported. Two winners will be randomly selected, and each will receive an additional $500 toward the fund they supported.

The top 3 funds that receive the most gifts from current U-M faculty and staff on Giving Blueday will receive the following prizes. Excludes student organizations.

Become an advocate and get:

• At least 3 donors to make a gift using your personal giving link - Custom U-M Deck of Cards
• The most donors - $2,000 for the cause of your choice

Hourly Challenges

Midnight - 1am: Midnight Madness Challenge

The top two funds that receive gifts from the most unique donors will each earn $500.

6am - 7am: Early Bird Challenge

The top fund that receives gifts from the most unique donors will earn $500.

7am - 9am: Give and Tag 2 Challenge

Forward your Giving Blueday gift confirmation email to two people, include a message asking them to also consider making a gift, and CC/BCC GivingBlueday2026@umich.edu. Our favorite message/ask will earn $1,000 for the U-M cause you supported.

9am - 10am: Student Organization Donor Challenge

Student organizations, this one is for you. The top three student organization funds that receive gifts from the most #GivingBlueday donors during this time will each win $1,000!

10am - 11am: Donor Challenge

The school, college, or unit fund that receives the most gifts from unique donors this hour will receive $1,000. Excludes student organization funds.

11am - Noon: Let’s GOOOO! (Viral) Challenge

Go to one of the Leaders & Best social channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and like & share the 11am post. We will randomly select a winner. Comment what you are supporting this Giving Blueday and why for a bonus entry.

Prize: $1,000 for the U-M fund of your choice

Student organizations, this one is for you. The top two student organization funds that receive gifts from the highest number of #GivingBlueday donors during this time will each win $1,000!

2pm - 3pm: Donor Challenge

The school, college, or unit fund that receives the most gifts from unique donors this hour will receive $1,000. Excludes student organization funds.

3pm - 5pm : Non-degree Granting Donor Challenge

The top two non-degree granting U-M departments/organizations with gifts from the most unique donors will each receive $1,000. Excludes student organizations.

5pm - 7pm: Donor Challenge

The top two funds that receive gifts from the most donors between 5pm - 7pm will both receive an additional $1,000.

7pm - 8pm: “Pass the Block M” Chain

Post a photo with the Block M (a hat, shirt, sign, campus pic, etc.), use #GivingBlueday, and tag someone else who bleeds Maize & Blue to “Take the M” and give this Giving Blueday. We will select our favorite photo to win $1,000 for the U-M cause of your choice.

Finish the day strong! The top two funds that receive gifts from the most donors between 11pm - midnight will both receive an additional $1,000.

Please note: For any giving challenge, gifts must be made through GivingBlueday.org to count towards this challenge. Winners are not official until gifts are processed and confirmed. Attempts to artificially inflate the donor count to win a challenge will result in disqualification from the challenge.
