There is no singular way to grow older. Aging brings a wide range of physical, emotional, and social experiences. With the right support, it can also be a time of growth, connection, and fulfillment. The Turner Senior Wellness Program (TSWP) at Michigan Medicine is designed to meet the diverse needs of older adults through accessible, engaging, and empowering programming.
TSWP offers a variety of services including health education workshops, fitness classes, recreational activities, and peer support groups. These programs help older adults stay informed, active, and socially connected — all key components of overall wellness. Peer support groups include:
- Low-vision support groups: We offer support and book groups to those with low vision to build community in a shared experience.
- Una Tertullia: This is a social and educational group for older adults for whom Spanish is their first language. This provides older adults the atmosphere to make new friends and learn new things.
- Sip and Chat: In collaboration with MiGen, we offer this group for LGBTQ+ older adults to connect, share resources, and socialize.
- Washtenaw County groups: Through our resource library, extensive resource guide, and educated volunteers, we connect older adults and families with additional support groups and programs in the greater Washtenaw County area.
Your gift this Giving Blue Day keeps these services low-cost or free. This ensures that no one is left out due to financial barriers. It also fuels innovation, allowing us to dream big, develop new programs, and reach more individuals and families in our community.
Together, we can build a future where older adults thrive. Please make your gift today to support the Turner Senior Wellness Program and help us continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.
