Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is a volunteer-centered membership organization that offers programs for older adults designed by their peers. It capitalizes on the skills, knowledge, and experience of dedicated older volunteers who plan and implement the learning programs. The mission of OLLI is to enhance quality of life by providing stimulating, meaningful, and high-quality classes, lecture series, travel opportunities, and social events for a diverse group of older adults.
Progressive learning and a sense of belonging are critical to a fulfilling life. OLLI creates accessible, structured, and informal opportunities to engage one’s mind and maintain social connections. Seniors plan, help execute, and attend classes, social events, and day trips. There are many opportunities to volunteer and make new friends throughout Washtenaw County and beyond.
While the talents, skills, and time of OLLI members provide a strong foundation, we need your help to maintain the level of service to our senior population, which is set to double in size by 2030.
Key to our program is keeping participation costs as low as possible and offering need-based scholarships to make our services accessible to anyone over 50. In addition to scholarships, contributions help cover our operational costs, including information technology systems in the office and learning technology to reach more members and serve them more effectively.
Securing space for the study groups and lectures presents an ongoing challenge and ever-increasing financial demand. Charitable contributions would make it possible for us to secure a dedicated classroom and lecture space so that our members will always have a place to learn and grow. Space to call our own will solidify OLLI’s longevity in the community, ensuring our story remains an integral part of the Ann Arbor landscape.
This Giving Blueday, please consider making a contribution to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
