The Aspirnaut Summer Research Internship Program is an opportunity for Michigan high school students from under-resourced communities to immerse themselves in a hands-on research experience. For students driven by a curiosity about the life sciences, this experience sparks transformation, expands horizons, and opens doors to new futures.
Aspirnauts spend six weeks collaborating with researchers in LSI Labs, contributing to cutting-edge basic science discoveries, while gaining college-readiness skills through test preparation and essay writing courses. They live in U-M dorms, engage in social and cultural outings, receive support from a success coach, and learn to communicate their scientific research. To ensure the interns can engage fully in this opportunity without forgoing summer earnings, housing and meals are provided for free, and students receive a stipend for their scientific contributions.
Your generosity removes barriers and makes this transformative experience possible for future scientists.
