LSA Opportunity Hub Student Journey Fund - 338734
You’ve been there. You were once an LSA student trying to figure out your next steps. Chances are, there was at least one person who inspired you, gave advice, or opened doors for you. Now, as an alum, you can support LSA students through the LSA Opportunity Hub.
The LSA Opportunity Hub is a transformative resource for liberal arts and sciences students at the University of Michigan. The Hub matters because it:
- Bridges the Gap: For LSA students, the Opportunity Hub provides critical support that bridges classroom learning and the world beyond campus.
- Levels the Playing Field: We ensure that all students—regardless of background—can access professional experiences, mentorship, recruiters, and financial support for internships.
- Provides Results that Matter: Hub experiences prepare LSA students for rewarding careers and meaningful lives.
All LSA students have unique career journeys and need individualized support to help them make the most of their liberal arts and sciences education. Gifts to support the Hub Student Journey Fund make it possible for students to access:
- Career coaching and workshops — hosted at the Hub and across campus, students are equipped with the skills to confidently explore and define their professional goals.
- Alumni Mentoring — the Hub is continually expanding its network of LSA alumni mentors, who are eager to partner with students at every stage of their journey.
- Recruiter connections — Students can join employers and participate in recruiting events, practice interviewing, and engage in networking.
- Online career resources — the Hub has a robust array of career resources online, including résumé builders, cover letter templates, interview preparation guides, and job search tools.
- Professional headshots — students have access to free, high-quality headshots through the professional headshot booth.
- Experiential learning — the Hub supports immersive, in-the-field experiences, like job shadowing with orthopedic surgery units in specialized hospitals.
- Career Treks — LSA students connect with employers in key regions and industries through immersive, 1- to 3- day experiences for direct exposure to the workplace and chances to build meaningful connections with recruiters.
LSA Fund for Student Internships - 326045
Students can pursue life-changing professional experiences, regardless of their financial means, because the Hub offers scholarships for internships.
- Through the Hub, students undertake summer internships in a diverse range of fields and industries, including local nonprofits and government agencies, as well as Fortune 500 companies and Silicon Valley tech startups.
- Undergraduates can gain insider experiences at companies across major U.S. cities, in a variety of career fields, including tech, finance, entertainment, sports media, hospitality, arts, nonprofits, and sustainability.
Gifts to the Student Internship Fund are needed to ensure every student who seeks these opportunities is able to participate.
