Bring Southeast Asia to Michigan – Give Today!
Your gift to the Center for Southeast Asian Studies powers vital research, student scholarships, and cultural connections that bridge Ann Arbor with one of the world's most dynamic regions. In 2025 Southeast Asia saw the continuation of the Myanmar Civil War, the return of conflict on the Thailand-Cambodia border, natural disasters such as landslides and cyclones hitting multiple countries, and changing power dynamics dynamics and relationships between different Southeast Asian nations and the United States, China, and Russia. Amongst these challenges, ASEAN added Timor-Leste to its 11th member and agreed on the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 looking to strengthen social, cultural, economic, and political ties.
Make your impact through:
- CSEAS Strategic Fund (365095) – Supporting scholarships, research, global partnerships, and cultural programming
- SEA Studies Graduate Student Support (309966) – Funding tuition and research travel for the next generation of Southeast Asia scholars
Your support enables us to:
- Award scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing Southeast Asian studies
- Fund critical faculty and student research on pressing regional challenges
- Sustain language instruction in Filipino, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese
- Host distinguished scholars from around the world for collaborative dialogue on history, human rights, and policy
- Present vibrant cultural programs—from Indonesian gamelan and wayang performances to Philippine rondalla and kulintang—that bring Southeast Asia's rich traditions to the Midwest
Give today and help us deepen understanding, foster collaboration, and celebrate the gift of Southeast Asia at U-M.
