The Barger Leadership Institute is the home for immersive leadership experiences at the University of Michigan—where the power of human connection helps uncover and inspire authentic leaders. If you know BLI, you know it isn’t just a program. It is a community. A place where relationships matter, leadership feels personal, and growth happens alongside people who truly see you.
That sense of connection doesn’t have to end at graduation. BLI has been creating memorable alumni engagement experiences that blend lifelong leadership learning with plenty of fun. Think leadership podcasts, storytelling workshops, panels, and networking events in cities like Detroit and Washington, D.C. that bring the voices of both alumni and undergrads together to discuss current events, emerging market trends, and career paths. We also offer unforgettable Michigan Football Homecoming weekends that reconnect the BLI community and deepen our school spirit.
Our dedicated alumni have been showing up for our undergrads. The excitement, the energy, and the desire to stay connected are all there. But here’s the challenge: while we have the resources to support our undergrad programs, we lack the funding needed to sustain these alumni-student experiences.
