F.E.M.M.E.S. Mission
Our student organization aims to increase the number of women* who pursue careers in science, technology, math, and engineering (STEM) fields by fostering interests in STEM at a young age.
*We support inclusive definitions of “women” and welcome all people who identify as women, including transgender and non-binary women. Although our events are targeted toward girls, students of any gender identity are welcome to participate.
Seeking gifts to support our F.E.M.M.E.S. Explore program
Every semester, we organize F.E.M.M.E.S. Explore, a full-day event where elementary school kids gain hands-on experience with various STEM fields. Every Explore event is organized by 100+ volunteers, including University of Michigan STEM faculty and students, who mentor our participants and help them envision themselves excelling in STEM fields in the future.

To remove barriers to participating, we make Explore completely free of cost, including STEM activity materials, lunches, and transportation to/from UM’s campus. As an effort to increase representation in the field, we target our programming towards young girls, specifically those in underserved communities in Michigan, although students of any gender are welcome to participate.
Our goal for Giving Blueday is to raise $2000 – enough to sponsor 100 students to attend F.E.M.M.E.S. Explore. Your gift can go a long way in helping us get there!
- $5 can provide lunch to 1 student
- $20 allows one more student to attend Explore
- $50 will fund an entire STEM activity
- $100 provides the entire Explore experience to 5 students

Please consider making a gift and sharing our story with your friends and family!
Thank you for your support!
