What is Michigan DNA Day?
Michigan DNA Day is an annual event (April 25, 2025) where early-career scientists from the state of Michigan visit local high schools to provide interactive experiential lessons to students on topics such as genetics, genomics, and biotechnology. The purpose of these visits is to help young students understand how DNA/genetics play a role in their everyday life and to break down barriers to entry into science such as misconceptions about what a scientist looks like. In doing so, we hope to inspire high school students to pursue their science dreams.
How will your donations be used?
We design lessons with low-cost supplies, provided at no cost to our scientists or host teachers. This means every dollar we receive goes directly towards our mission of building a bridge between Michigan’s leading research institutions and high school science classrooms to promote and enhance science education throughout our state. By donating, you increase our volunteering capacity and enhance the quality of the materials/lessons we are able to provide. Please help us reach as many students as possible in 2025!
Where can I learn more?
Michigan DNA Day is proud to be part of an ever-growing list of states providing DNA Day experiences so that students can get excited about including science in their daily lives and future careers. To learn more about our organization or how you can get involved visit us here!
