The Army ROTC program at the University of Michigan, “Wolverine Battalion,” is asking for your support this Giving Blueday. Last semester, your fundraising enabled us to fully fund our Bataan Death March and Norwegian memorial rucks. Each of the ruck team members is now able to compete. Thank you for supporting the future leaders of your Army!
For this Giving Blueday, we hope to continue developing a strong foundation of Army excellence for the leaders and best.
Your past support has empowered cadet leadership this school year to:
1. Create the nation's first Tri-Service ROTC Wargame. The University of Michigan ROTC program was the first program to create a tri-service wargame. The wargame took months of planning and required collaboration across the Army, Air Force, and Navy. We also collaborated with the Army War College, and are planning to send one of our cadets to attend a wargaming course at the Army War College this upcoming summer. The wargame was a momentous event in our program's history, and it gave cadets first-hand experience navigating ambiguous, high pressure, multi-domain environments in the context of joint-force operations.
2. Establish a relationship with the Reserve Organization of America (ROA). In light of the new alumni club to provide networking opportunities for cadets, we've also established a relationship with the ROA to enable cadet mentorship with retired general officers and senior military leaders.
3. Organize a field trip to the Battle of Fallen Timbers in Maumee and Toledo, Ohio. Thanks to our cadet network, we have been given the opportunity to tour the historic site of the Battle of Fallen Timbers. This event offers cadets the ability to navigate a staff ride before Normandy during senior year and appreciate military history, developing their knowledge as future leaders in the Army.
Your support has enabled freedom of maneuver for leadership. We intend on funding additional opportunities and purchases that will continue to build upon leadership excellence.
During the 2025-2026 school year, we hope to:
1. Acquire gym, and other equipment for our relocation. In Fall of 2025, we will be moving our ROTC offices from the Chemistry Building to Observatory Hall. This relocation grants our unit our own building, to be shared with the other ROTC branches. We plan to use our fundraising to purchase equipment to make the relocation our new home.
2. Enable more hands-on experience for rifle qualifications. Cadets seldom are able to get hands-on training with weapon systems given significant costs. We hope to change that, offering more training opportunities for cadets to get hands on weapon systems and qualify.
3. Procure more unit patches. In 2024, we launched our inaugural Wolverine Battalion Unit Patch. We will use our funds to procure more patches to ensure future cadets are able to carry on the legacy.
By contributing today, you are supporting the Michigan difference. Let us continue to empower our cadets to be all they can be, achieving total victory and settling for nothing less!
Beat Navy. Beat Air Force.
GO ARMY, and GO BLUE!
