Student Life is a constant companion for every student and provides learning beyond the classroom and across boundaries that transform the university experience for all students.
Fraternity & Sorority Life
- Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) has been an integral part of the undergraduate experience for Michigan students who are looking to forge their path for over 175 years. Boasting beyond 5,500 student members, FSL participants are uniquely positioned to develop deep social bonds with peers across the entire university community and embark on a journey of personal growth and development.
- Through Fraternity & Sorority Life students have the opportunity to make key decisions on a million-dollar budget, gain skills facilitating conversations and activities amongst peers, support operations of an entire residential facility, and execute successful six-figure fundraising campaigns all while making lifelong friends and memories. FSL provides the platform for students to engage more deeply with Michigan, their community, and the world through their experiences.
- As we consider the next horizon for FSL, it is paramount that the program continues to build financial security and expand programmatic offerings, while ensuring that every interested Michigan student can participate no matter their financial circumstances.
Henderson House
- Henderson House continues to be a special place for 28 University of Michigan women to live each semester. The original goals of the house live on; providing significantly reduced cost housing versus the UM dormitories, supporting residents with scholarships, and creating a cooperative community.
- With the aging infrastructure, particularly the electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, Henderson House requires significant upgrades to meet the needs of today’s students. With upcoming projects, including bathroom upgrades and a complete rewiring, we need to continue to grow the funding to secure Henderson House’s future.
- Your contribution to the Henderson House Endowment will directly support necessary upgrades to the house’s aging infrastructure, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. These improvements will help maintain the safe and welcoming environment that Henderson House has always been.
The Michigan Union
- The Michigan Union has been the center of campus life, and the symbolic home of the University of Michigan since it opened in 1919. It is a home for learning beyond the classroom, a base for leadership opportunities, and a catalyst for student service to the campus and the community.
- Your gift will help to protect and preserve the legacy of the Michigan Union by providing relevant places, programs, and services that encourage students to gather, connect, engage, and lead.
The Michigan League
- The Michigan League is more than just a historic building, it is a center for activities, learning, and development. This remarkable building provides students, faculty, staff, and visitors with a beautiful space for campus social, cultural, and educational activities.
- Your gift helps support student scholarships and critical preservation and renovation projects.
The Center for Campus InvolvementT
- The Center for Campus Involvement is a dynamic, student-focused department that serves students campus-wide through its programs and student organization support. Through meaningful involvement, the Center creates transformative experiences, a vibrant community, and lifelong memories for University of Michigan students.
- Your gift to CCI helps to support programs, student organizations, and leadership opportunities.
The University Activities Center (UAC)
- The University Activities Center (UAC) is a student-run programming organization sponsored by the Center for Campus Involvement (CCI). UAC has 15 different committees where students can be involved in the planning and execution of a wide variety of events both on and off campus.
- Your gift supports UAC’s mission to create opportunities for the extra-curricular development of students through a full range of experiential learning while providing the campus community with a wide array of cultural, social, educational, and artistic campus involvement programming.
Diversity Peer Educators (DPE)
- In 1973, the first cohort of Residential Coalition Counselors (RCCs) acted as a link between students and minority student organizations, as well as a resource to support programming and events in residential communities. The name changed in 2011 and today, there are 22 Diversity Peer Educators who live in the residence halls and support the residential experiences of all residents to ensure they feel belonging on campus.
- The DPE Program has supported generations of students through personal and socially enriching programming, connecting students to resources, ensuring all residents feel a sense of belonging in their community, and being a role model for navigating difficult situations.
- Your gift supports DPE’s initiatives that help to foster a sense of belonging, community, and connection among residents and staff through educational and cultural programs.
