The Michigan Climate Venture (MCV) is a first-of-a-kind, action-based, and student-run learning program at the intersection of climate tech and venture capital, housed within the Erb Institute between SEAS and the Ross School of Business.
MCV was born out of the realization that higher education at a top research university must be interdisciplinary, research and action-based, and co-created with students. We invest in early-stage startups that have moonshot potential for rapid decarbonization. In alignment with this fund structure, MCV targets startups in the Great Lake region given its role in climate transition initiatives, historically low access to capital, and potential impact in the country.
Our fund is designed to provide a hands-on, transformative experience that prepares students for impactful careers addressing climate change—the defining challenge of our generation. Over the course of the academic year, graduate students representing the business and law schools, the chemistry department, and the school for environment and sustainability, and engineering collaborate to source, screen, vet, and ultimately invest in and support deals aligned with MCV's mission.
It is only through your support that we can continue to provide alternative access to capital for early-stage climate startups and secure the longevity of MCV as a student-led venture fund. Your contribution will be exclusively used to support climate startups in the Great Lakes region that fit our selection criteria.
