At the University of Michigan Medical School, our learners dedicate themselves to developing skills, growing clinical experience, mastering understanding of medicine, and taking advantage of other opportunities that will help them be the best physicians they can be.
All of these pursuits demonstrate their commitment and passion for providing the highest level of care to future patients. But as they focus on taking care of others, they may not be thinking of their own health and wellness.
The Medical School’s Student Wellness Fund provides students with resources, services, and programs that can support their physical and mental well-being, and help them establish a healthy balance between work, study, and social obligations. The fund also strengthens programs that identify burnout, depression, and other mental health issues affecting learners.
As the fund grows, the Medical School will explore ways that student wellness initiatives can be incorporated into the learning curriculum, and work with students to organize unique activities and programs. We will also examine ways to make learning more efficient and promote cultural changes that can foster improved health and well-being.
Wellness programs can enhance a learner’s medical school experience, improve interactions with patients and colleagues, and truly make an impact on the delivery of health care.
Your support can help students to take the best care of themselves as they develop the knowledge and abilities that will enable them to change and improve the lives of their future patients. Thank you!
