Black Medical Association

Donations will support BMA's efforts to support students at the University of Michigan Medical School, provide networking opportunities, and educate the surrounding medical community about local health disparities that affect the broader Southeastern Michigan Community.

The Black Medical Association (BMA) at University of Michigan Medical School is a member of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), a national organization open to people of all races whose mission is to support medical and pre-medical students of color. We are dedicated to the following:

• Serving as an academic, social, and professional support network for BMA members, as well as a service organization for the community.

• Addressing the special health needs of the African American community, educating ourselves and the greater medical student community on issues of minority health and the elimination of racial/ethnic health care disparities.

• Organizing and implementing programs that target pre-medical students and not only prepare them for the medical school application process but also expose them to the medical profession and critical health care issues.

Your gift will support BMA in the following efforts:

• Building an increasingly diverse class of medical students and fostering community within current classes.

• Helping cover the cost for students attending and presenting at regional and national conferences.

• Increasing opportunities for networking and professional development by partnering with community members through service events.
