At TeachingWorks, our vision is that every young person would have teachers who support them to flourish—academically, personally, and socially. We want every student to feel seen, cared about, and valued. Teaching is about creating spaces where students explore, create, and collaborate. Teaching opens doors for young people. Teaching supports them to meet new ideas and develop new skills. Teaching matters.

But we know that good teaching has never been equitably distributed in this country and that historically marginalized groups have been denied the quality education that everyone deserves. And the practice of teaching has been underappreciated and poorly understood.

Recognizing the need for bold, equity-focused teaching, TeachingWorks has evolved to explicitly support teachers and teacher educators to disrupt persistent patterns of injustice through strong teacher preparation and professional learning. We focus on the intersection of subject matter, teaching practices, and the creation of classroom environments where children flourish.

We envision a society in which teaching is valued and teachers are prepared and supported so that all young people thrive. But this bold vision requires collective work—and we need you!
