“The Kelsey offers something about the human experience across the centuries. It helps build empathy and wonder and a general idea of where we came from.” —Thea Bilch, undergraduate student.
The Kelsey Museum enriches the University of Michigan’s academic rigor, offering unique artifacts for study and facilitating immersive teaching and learning. At the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology, Michigan students—both undergraduate and graduate—have direct access to the ancient world through class visits, internships, research projects, and professional opportunities. Many will travel to the Mediterranean, North Africa, and the Middle East for Kelsey archaeological projects, which provide extraordinary opportunities to live and work in another country while still under the Michigan umbrella. Whether abroad or on campus, these experiences foster inquiry into the human experience and equip students with an understanding of the past so that they can make more informed decisions for the future. Holding the past in their hands, students connect with people from ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, and beyond in deeper, more meaningful ways.
This Giving Blueday, we invite you to join us in enriching the student experience at the University of Michigan. Your gift to the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology will ensure our innovative approach to teaching and learning about the ancient world continues to be a hallmark of a Michigan education for all students.
