Center for Healthcare Engineering & Patient Safety (CHEPS)

Help us reach our audacious goal of funding five students this summer!

We need $6500 to fully fund each student employee. Our goal is $32,500 to fund five student employees this summer.

For almost 15 years, CHEPS has been providing students with a unique opportunity to learn and to grow, while at the same time making an enormous impact on how healthcare is delivered. CHEPS brings together students from many different backgrounds—Industrial and Operations Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Pre-Med, and more—to come together as teammates, collaborate with clinicians, and ultimately solve contemporary healthcare challenges. Current projects focus on topics like improving health outcomes for high-risk prenatal patients, reducing physician burnout rates, and expanding access to medical care for new patients.

At a time when both healthcare and higher education are facing existential threats, CHEPS is feeling the impact of these financial risks. While we aspire to increase the number of students and projects that we support, we are actually faced with the concerning prospect that our numbers may need to drop significantly if we cannot find additional ways to support our students.
