We invite you to support the wonderful Engineering Teaching Consultants (ETCs). ETCs serve as consultants and teaching mentors to the rest of the Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs), and undergraduates with teaching responsibilities (Instructional Aides or IAs), at Michigan Engineering.
All first-time donors of at least $50 will have their donations matched when they participate in the Giving Blueday fundraiser.
In 2024, CRLT-Engin celebrated its 20th anniversary. We were proud to feature a current ETC member in our celebratory video to commemorate this special occasion. Other recent ETC members shared their stories about engaging with the ETC program in the video below.
With College of Engineering funding, CRLT-Engin maintains the core of the excellent programming already available through:
- Teaching Orientations,
- MSFs,
- One-on-One Consultations, and
- Teaching Philosophy Statement support
As growth across Michigan Engineering begins to stabilize, activities like the ETC program continue to play an integral role in meeting the educational needs of the college.
In Academic Year (AY) 2023-2024, 967 GSIs and IAs were supported by ETCs who provided the range of services listed above and co-facilitated workshops available to all U-M undergrad and grad student instructors The ETC Program reached 78.1% of CoE student instructors in AY24.
Your gift to CRLT-Engin's ETC program will support expanding the types of teaching professional development we can offer to GSIs and IAs, such as:
- Increasing the number of ETCs that can be hired, and services the program can support
- Stipends for ETCs and other graduate students partnering with faculty to implement new teaching approaches for Equity-Centered Engineering
- Discretionary funds to enhance the professional development of ETCs (e.g. books on teaching)
On behalf of our ETCs, thank you for your support!
