During their time at U-M, too many alumni walked past the Clements Library without ever coming inside. By hiring Maggie Vanderford, our first Librarian for Instruction and Engagement in the Fall of 2021, we have begun the work to change that. Last year 1,828 students from 91 unique classes visited the Clements for hands-on instruction and engaged learning opportunities.
You can improve instruction and increase student access by donating to the Clements Library Instruction Fund! Money from the Instruction Fund will be used to:
- Purchase supplies for experiential learning projects related to the collections, like needlework or book arts.
- Fund public history displays in the Diag, created by students.
- Sponsor student study hours and student-centered events.
Our mission is to collect and preserve primary sources, to make them available for research, and to support and encourage scholarly investigation of our nation’s past. Central to this is our belief that these materials should be available to students and the broader public for educational purposes through exhibits and programming.
We know that the creative instructors and students who visit and study at the Clements Library will have many more ideas in the future, so please give today!
