Women's Rugby

Michigan Women's Rugby is one of the most elite rugby programs in the nation. We provide all committed and hard-working teammates the opportunity to grow as rugby players, athletes, and individuals. Our 60 member club is devoted to building a competitive program focused on teamwork, leadership, dedication, and camaraderie.

Our team encourages everyone to learn and love the sport of rugby. We represent the University at the highest level of competitive collegiate rugby and hold back-to-back Division 1 National Champion titles. Our goal is to get a third National Championship this year and we need your help to do it!.

We have a fundraising goal of $10,000 to help cover costs for three away games, playoffs, and nationals this season.

The biggest costs that our team face are tournament registration, travel, and lodging. The more competitive opportunities we seek for our players, the higher these costs get. Travel funding support is important to our team for two main reasons:

Our mission: We are on a mission to expand our program, to grow our community, and spread interest in the sport of rugby. We want to give every athlete that joins our team an equal chance at representing us at games, which often means taking multiple teams to a tournament. Our biggest barrier to doing this is the cost.

Players' health/wellness: We currently drive ourselves in vans to away games, many of which involve 6-8 hours of driving the morning before a game, followed by a long drive back home right after. The stress and exhaustion caused by this often takes a huge toll on our players. Being able to afford an overnight stay, or better, a charter bus, would be a significant improvement for our team, not just financially, but also physically and mentally.

Your support provides more playing opportunities/rugby experience for newer athletes, lower stress for all players by reducing costs and travel pressures, and a bigger and stronger Michigan rugby community!
