Gifts to Triathlon contribute to...
Michigan Triathlon is an entirely student-run organization dedicated to providing UM students with a supportive environment to train for and compete in the sport of triathlon. Our team races local intercollegiate events throughout the year, and we send about 20 athletes to the USAT Collegiate Club National Championship each spring.
MTri welcomes athletes of all levels and backgrounds, encouraging them to push their limits and extend beyond their comfort zone. We are committed to breaking down barriers to the sport, offering education and coaching, dues-funded travel opportunities, and community support to our members. In recent years, we have also hosted team fundraisers for a non-profit organization which provides resources to adaptive athletes to compete in paratriathlon. We believe that anyone, with the right mindset, can be a triathlete!
We are seeking $3,000 to cover the majority of travel expenses and bike transportation for the rest of the school year.
After the fall racing season, cold weather forces us indoors for a long training block before Nationals in the spring. One of our primary goals is to engage members to send a larger, more competitive team to Nationals, as this greatly improves overall team culture. In most cases, the primary barrier to students is the elevated cost to travel to a warmer climate and without making a commitment to train for and compete at Nationals, it is easy for members to get complacent and less active on the team. By offering greater reimbursement for the associated fees, we hope to improve Nationals attendance and, in turn, team engagement throughout the winter months.
