The Michigan Rifle Team is a 15-member, student-run competitive shooting team. We shoot Olympic-style 3-position smallbore and standing air rifle and compete with other club teams at the highest level of intercollegiate competition. Each season, we welcome many beginner shooters and train them in the mechanics of shooting and principles of marksmanship, as they discover a lifelong passion for the sport.
Although we are incredibly beginner-friendly, we also have consistent success on the national stage! Last season, our team won the Western Intercollegiate Rifle Conference Championship, both overall and in the air rifle discipline, and we are currently training hard to defend our title this year.
We are hoping to raise $1,500 dollars to pay for new gear for our club, allowing us to outfit our team members with more modern, high-quality equipment.
Precision rifle is a very equipment-heavy sport: our smallbore and air rifles require constant maintenance to stay in top shape, and we also shoot in fitted canvas suits to help us balance. We are proud to provide equipment, rifles, and ammunition for all our team members, but some of our gear is showing its age.
With your help, we can purchase replacements and ensure that our team is outfitted with the best equipment possible, allowing us to continue performing at a high level while developing our marksmanship abilities. If we reached our goal, we would immediately be able to order new canvas suits and rifle accessories for our team members.
Many of our rival teams have already begun implementing these changes, and having comparable equipment will allow us to shoot at a higher level and stay competitive within the field. These purchases will undoubtedly help us in the long term as well: our current equipment has been passed down through many years of rifle shooters, and we are confident that buying long-lasting, high-quality gear will continue to benefit future members as well.
