Michigan Mock Trial, or MMT, is made up of 26 University of Michigan students from diverse backgrounds, areas of study, and perspectives who come together to form the #1 student-run mock trial team in the nation. We are proud to be completely student-run, relying on knowledge passed down through years of Michigan Mock Trial experience to succeed—which makes our achievements even more meaningful to us. Last season alone, we brought home 25 individual awards and earned multiple podium finishes at some of the toughest tournaments across the country!
Our program teaches students to become incredible public speakers, to do complex textual analysis, and to work collaboratively. Michigan Mock Trial competitors have a unique opportunity to experience the legal process as undergraduates. Therefore, we take pride in being the launching point for many incredible careers in the legal industry and beyond.
It takes around $35,000 a year to keep our team running. This money goes toward tournament fees, travel, hotels, and food while we compete, as well as keeping our member fees low to ensure finances are never a barrier for our members. However, without sponsorships a large portion of our funding comes from generous donations from members of our community. We are only able to accomplish what we do and keep mock trial accessible to all because of people like you who support us.
