DMUM fundraises to support pediatric programs at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. We chose to dedicate this day to fundraising for a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) position. This role will support the physical, cognitive, and emotional wellbeing of children through adaptive therapy programs such as Martial Arts Therapy and Mindfulness Group. DMUM aims to remove any financial hurdles for patients who will benefit from these programs, they are often not covered by insurance.
The CTRS position we are funding will impact hundreds of children at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. This position is crucial to running over 20 pediatric enrichment programs and reaches over 500 patients at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. By funding this CTRS position, we hope to increase the number of children we can support and further expand the types of therapies and opportunities available to these children and their families. Most importantly, these therapies increase the quality of care to the patients we help support, oftentimes alleviating additional stress and pain that the patients experience during various treatments, procedures, or rehabilitation processes.
