Wahwala Iyohlogya, which translates to "Peaceful Means" in English, is an Indigenous-led sexual violence prevention initiative based on the Pine Ridge Reservation (PRR) in South Dakota and housed within the Interpersonal Violence Research Laboratory (IVRL) at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. This program urgently needs funding to continue supporting this vital work in preventing sexual violence within this community as research shows that 1 in 3 Native American girls and 1 in 10 Native American boys experience sexual assault by the time they reach high school.
The IVRL is deeply committed to the success of Wahwala Iyohlogya and to continuing the valuable partnership with School of Social Work students, staff, and faculty. Your contribution will go directly towards sexual violence prevention efforts and support healing on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
