Stretch Goal: $10,000
We are raising funds to support an educational trip to Normandy, France, where students will have the opportunity to explore D-Day battlegrounds, deepen their historical knowledge of WWII, honor American veterans by raising the flag at the Normandy American Cemetery, and enhance their leadership skills and camaraderie. Ultimately, this journey aims to cultivate the leadership potential of the next generation while fostering an appreciation for history and a heartfelt tribute to American heroes.
The Wolverine Maritime Battalion prepares students to serve their country by commissioning as officers in the United States Navy and Marine Corps through a comprehensive program that includes physical training, leadership development, and warfare and STEM education. By supporting our trip to Normandy, students will immerse themselves in history and enhance their readiness for future roles by learning from the sacrifices made on D-Day. This unique, firsthand experience deepens their understanding of sacrifice and leadership, enriching their education while reinforcing their commitment to honoring American heroes as they embark on their military careers.
Last spring break, 8 members of the Wolverine Maritime Battalion traveled to Normandy. Some major highlights include walking along Omaha Beach and other significant sections of the coastline where D-Day unfolded, visiting the Normandy American Cemetery, and raising the flag in honor of the fallen, touring the U.S. Embassy, attending several World War II museums, and engaging in historical presentations and leadership exercises. This enriching experience served to deepen their understanding of history and reinforce their commitment to service. Additionally, students who go this year will get to visit the NATO base in France! The Wolverine Maritime Battalion would like to ask you to please consider donating to help make this trip possible for the upcoming year.
