The School of Social Work Student Mental Health Fund will assist students who have exhausted on-campus mental health services and need financial support for ongoing mental health care needs. This initiative aims to ensure that all students, regardless of financial situation, can access the necessary mental health resources to be successful in their academic and personal lives. Social workers are the top providers of mental health care in the nation. Join us in supporting those who uplift others.
Approximately 40% of SSW students report that mental health difficulties impede their academic success. Students with mental health difficulties currently receive short-term support through on-campus services. SSW’s on-site therapist provides counseling and makes referrals to outside therapists for ongoing care. While we do have this on-site support, it is limited to short-term interventions. Once these sessions are completed, students are referred to private therapists, often incurring out-of-pocket costs like insurance premiums and copays. Direct financial assistance to students for insurance, therapy costs, and copays would help our students get the care when they need it most. Join us in raising $15,000 for social work student mental health this Giving Tuesday.
