When you think of the University of Michigan's central campus, what comes to mind? The green spaces of the Diag are home to more than just hammocking students! If you are a migrating Monarch Butterfly or an iridescent Ruby-Throated Hummingbird headed South for the winter (or a year-round, fluffy Fox Squirrel) - you count on plentiful native plants along your route to keep you fueled . As part of the University's broader commitment to insect and animal pollinators, the College of LSA is partnering with UM Grounds to transform grassy patches surrounding our facilities with beautiful flowering plants and shrubs. These are better able to shelter and feed diverse species, from native bees to songbirds. This Climate Week, we added a new planting at Mason Hall through the generosity of Giving Blue Day donors -- where should we go next??
