Who we are
The Global CO2 Initiative (GCI) provides the leadership necessary to establish the new industry of CO2 capture and utilization through conversion into new products. We accomplish this through evaluation, research, outreach, training, and, of course, education.
We offer courses, research projects, hands-on training and networking opportunities for University of Michigan students, in order to provide the workforce development and skill building necessary for a new carbon economy. We also help students secure research, industry, and policy internships domestically and abroad.
We are proud that our students have created reports, webinars, training videos, and websites used by both industry professionals and government agencies.
Our graduates
Our students have gone on to establish startup companies, fulfill key federal government roles including industry standard development, work as researchers or consultants for prominent public and private organizations, and establish nonprofit STEM outreach centers in their own communities.
