HISTORY OF UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN WOMEN'S HOCKEY
First established in 1995, the University of Michigan Women's Hockey program has grown substantially over the last 27 years. Currently categorized as a "Club Sport" within Student Life at the University, the Wolverines compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) in the Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association (CCWHA) at the Division One level.
A highly-competitive and skilled team, the Wolverines compete against other B1G universities, such as Michigan State University and Penn State University, as well as travel to out-of-conference opponents such as the University of Utah (Salt Lake City, UT) and Arizona State University (Tempe, AZ).
Our program gives female student athletes an opportunity to participate in a high level of intercollegiate hockey while still attending an academically vigorous, nationally ranked university.
TEAM 27
The 2022-2023 season has been off to a very successful start. With a current record of 12-3-1, the Wolverines have returned to the top ten in ACHA Women's Division One rankings. Returning and new players alike have all been contributing on and off the ice to help with our successful start to the season. Team 27 is the most talented women's hockey team the University of Michigan has seen, and we are only continuing to build on our current momentum.
HOW YOUR DONATION WILL HELP
There are many challenges that come with operating as a "Club Sport" within the University of Michigan. Our largest financial burden each season is the rising cost of ice time for practices and games at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor, MI. Our ice bill for the 2022-2023 season is set to exceed $30,000 USD.
In this season of giving, we are hoping to raise $30,000 to help alleviate the financial strain of paying for ice time at Yost Ice Arena. Donations received through MaizeRaise will be directed to cover our ice bill for the current 2022-2023 season.
UPDATE AS OF 20 DECEMBER: A donor has agreed to donate an additional $5,000 if we hit a total of $30,000 in donations.
For example, $400 covers about one 80 minute practice at Yost Ice Arena. One game costs approximately $1,000.
Any contribution to our program is tax deductible and you will receive a receipt for tax purposes.
We appreciate any level of giving, and are extremely thankful for the support of our friends, families, women's hockey and Michigan fans.
